Second and Ten – The College Version

Roogames' conversion of Wayne Poniewaz's American Football Simulation 'First and Ten'

Overview

The college version of Second and Ten incorporates all the features of the Pro version, includes all relevant rule changes specific to the college game.  There are also some important new features included in this version.

Free Downloads

Two free downloads are available.  The first gives you all 117 Div IAA teams in a full season environment, together with the Ivy League and 19 other Div IAA teams.  The second provides you with over 110 Great teams from 1970 to the present.  A ratings editing suite is scheduled to be available free of charge around the 15th of October, which will enable you to rate ANY college team of the past providing you have the necessary stats.

Real Statistics (screenshot)

Probably the most important addition.  You can compare replay stats to real stats on a team or individual level on most reports.  Real stats always appear in gold, and replay stats in white.  There is also an option on the roster allowing you to view and print the main stats for each team and their players.

Support for Logos and custom sounds (screenshot)

The latest version of the game (v1.1.0) allows you to save team logos in a directory which are then automatically displayed by the program.  Custom sounds (start of game and after a score) are also now catered for.  We have also drastically improved the field display

Editing Schedules (screenshot)

With three different types of season available for you to create, the ability to edit and in fact create a schedule was necessary.  This can be done for any regular season and at any time during the season.

Linked Seasons

A concept which was needed to produce overall stats for a college season.  Seasons can be linked through the options screen, and seasons which are linked will ensure the same results are produced across common games as well as allowing the ability to combine team and individual stats at any time during the season.

Expanded Descriptions

You will find new descriptions appearing during the games as you play.

‘Team’ Databases

With the imminent release of the SAT College ratings suite of programs, a new concept is used in the college version.  A Team database contains team information only (no schedules, replay stats etc), and they are used during the ratings process.  You therefore have two sources of teams when creating/editing seasons.  It is possible that a team database (as with the Great Teams) will be distributed without any corresponding seasons, so it is necessary to have both options available.  Generally it is recommended to use Team Databases when selecting teams as there will probably be fewer teams making it easier to find the one you want.

To get more information on the SAT gameplay and features, Second and Ten gives full details and various screenshots and sample reports. from the latest beta version.
